Flightless

Dead yet sleeping is how I prefer to think of this series of predominately wild British birds. Often found beside the roadside, a symptom of the environmental impact that significant increases of road traffic has on our wildlife. My initial approach to photograph these incredible creatures was to adopt an almost forensic approach. Over time I’ve learnt to appreciate the characteristics of each and made attempts to gently style or position each bird and perhaps add a sense of their personality. Once the photograph is finished, a simple burial ceremony sets them free.
